Things always get a bit hectic this time of year - there's a lot going on!
In baseball news, the Braves got roughed up in Spooner by the tune of 11-1...but used the opportunity for some quality team building / meeting / get to know your teammates quality time - during the 10th Inning at the Duck conference center, then a follow up meeting not far from the Turtle Lake Casino. Let's just say it was a long...and eventually very entertaining night.
The next day, the Braves fell to the St. Paul Capitals 4-1. Braves got back in the W column with a 2-0 win over the Metro Knights.
The Braves play at Haugen July 19, at Hayward July 20 and then a rain-makeup game on July 21 at home versus the Brill Millers at 1pm. IF you've stumbled on to this blog and baseball isn't your thing - there is also the Polk County Fair this weekend, St. Croix Falls Wannigan Days and in Minnesota - 85th Annual Stillwater Lumberjack Days...and Country Jam in Eau Claire. If none of those things interest you...how about a trip to Las Vegas?
LAS VEGAS 2020
It's been gossip, rumored...talked about - sorta like Bigfoot and other legends...but what if the Braves or a collection of Braves, and/or a few other townball teams traveled to Las Vegas next July for a game. Play one game, then play in the World Series of Poker. (Not the $10,000 Main Event) but some of the smaller poker tournaments for the non-high rollers. Just bar gossip as of now...but you never know!
WBA POWER RANKINGS
2. River Falls
5. Eau Claire Bears
6. Eau Claire Cavs
July 22 - big decision time - would you rather attend the Yankees at Minnesota Twins game? OR watch the St. Paul Saints Celebrity Softball game with Joe Mauer and other stars from MLB, NFL and the NHL?
Finally, with just about 2 weeks left in the regular season...it's been a really fun year thanks to all the community support, fans, parents, and everyone that enjoys partying on Seventh Ave / aka Oakey Park during the summer. Braves hope to go on a heater and make the playoffs and keep the par-tay rollin!
